As an 8 year old boy, technical and managing director Alan Davey received a birthday present called Plasticaraft, a resin casting kit, complete with resins, catalysts, pigments and a set of little moulds. It proved to be the catalyst for a life-long fascination with composite systems.
Two short jobs after leaving school Alan then started up his own fibreglass enterprise, making windsurfers, surfboards and fins with his brother Ian, both spending as much time as possible testing (Important R&D!!) their creations!
Ventures into making planing hull catamarans, dinghies wing keel fins, silicone moulds for statues, fireplaces and a whole assortment of the weird and wonderful followed over the next decade.
30 years later we still have that fascination and drive that lies behind the problem solving innovation we are know for.
